The Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor Trail (D&L)
The D&L is a recreational trail that travels 165 miles from Bristol, PA outside of Philadelphia, to Wilkes-Barre, PA. The trail follows the old railroad and canal lines of our industrial past and provides historical and recreational opportunities to all.
The trail is almost complete in the Northeastern region and the North Branch Land Trust is working with the D&L, Anthracite Scenic Trails Association, Earth Conservancy and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to complete the trail from Mountain Top to Wilkes-Barre. Once the trail is complete you will be able to bike or hike from Wilkes-Barre to the Seven Tubs nature area, to Mountain Top, to White Haven, to Jim Thorpe and points south.
Pocono Whitewater serves as an outfitter for the area that will transport your bikes to the D&L Black Diamond Trailhead at Rt. 437. This segment of the D & L Trail extends from White Haven to Mountain Top. The crushed stone trail offers terrific scenery, showcasing Pennsylvania’s forested hills, secluded natural areas, wildlife and pleasant communities. In addition to transporting your bike, Pocono Whitewater also has bike rentals. Check out their website for some cool night bike rides, whitewater rafting trips and paintball skirmish. www.poconowhitewater.com
